I was told by a pretty reliable source that the money pot for all of the crappy bike lanes is Obama’s “stimulus funds.” If this is the level of the “shovel ready” projects being funded with these funds, no wonder the GOP hates Obama. (among other, perhaps less savory reasons, of course)
And if I hear one more time that the bike lane in Prospect Park is only one way, I think I’m going to puke. The only reason for not splitting that lane in two and making it 2 way is, I guess, to allow for teams of bike riders, 5 abreast, to ride through the park together.
Good to hear police are stepping up patrols. Hope they combine foot and car. I second the remarks of the man quoted in the article. Crime is defintely a problem around Broadway from Broadwat Junction up to Myrtle Broadway. And , according to this blog, in Clinton Hill/Bed Stuy/Fort Greene.
Also from the Ft. Greene crime blog…
June 20: A man was playing basketball near the park on the corner of DeKalb Avenue and Adelphi Street and left this wallet on a nearby bench while he played. When he returned to get it, it was missing, along with his Chase debit/credit card, driver’s license, military ID, food stamps card and college ID.
Well, duh.
That was hilarious donatella. Though pity the poor burglar in my apt, old tube tele and certainly no 800 clams.
From the Fort Greene crime log (NYTimes)
June 22: A 23-year-old man returned to his home on Navy Walk around 7:30 p.m. to find the front door open. He went in and locked the door behind him, then proceeded to a back room where some relatives were sleeping. About 20 minutes later he was in the kitchen and saw an intruder, who then fled the apartment, police said. When the man’s mother returned home she noticed that $800 and a book, “Living in a Hostile World,†were missing.
You can’t make this up…
