This will be Fillmore’s 12th office in Brooklyn. The match was made by local agency Evans & Nye, who also took a moment to update us on their own office space situation.
Owner William Ryan Hobbs and agent Suzette Bather are open for business at Evans & Nye’s Bed Stuy office at 378 Tompkins, following the departure of agents Ban Leow, Morgan Munsey and Donna Myrie for Halstead earlier this month.
In November, Williamsburg-based real estate firm Aptsandlofts.com opened an office at 308 Malcolm X Boulevard. A few months prior, real estate developer Brookland Capital bought the building and opened its own offices there. GMAP

“The great thing about Bed Stuy brownstones is that due to challenging local economic conditions in the neighborhood over the past 30 years, many homeowners never improved on their homes and that leaves us with an abundance of inventory with ORIGINAL DETAILS! That’s what makes this area so attractive and special.”
Where did this come from? Who are you quoting?

I’m with MaconStreetMan. The real disappointment here is that such a central space is being wasted by a real estate agency instead of a restaurant, store, drugstore, etc. that could further enhance our community.
As someone that is involved in the media/PR business it always at the forefront of my mind that when something glitters it doesn’t necessarily mean it is gold.
When I buy a pair of shoes I expect the salesperson to say “Those shoes look excellent on you Sir” I expect them to be dressed nicely, fashionable, be considerate (even if its false), attentive etc. In other words lay on a bit of BS. It a given they know a bit about shoes as they are surrounded by them and wearing them all the time. We have all worn shoes before and reality is we can return then next week or just use it as an excuse to buy another pair.
But when it comes to buying a house would you buy one from a nicely dressed fashionable, but considerate (even if its false), attentive salesperson THAT HAS NEVER OWNED A HOME AND DOEST LIVE IN THE AREA?
No right? But people do it all the time.
How many times have I asked a simple question about a properties C of O to some young thing who looked like they just came out of a Fashion Catwalk only to get the stock answer “I’ll have my broker get back to you” at open houses or showings recently? I’m not buying a pair of shoes I’m dropping $1million and will have to pay most of it off FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE.
ALL I WANT IS SOMEONE WHO KNOWS ABOUT THE BIGGEST PURCHASE I WILL MAKE EVER IN MY LIFE.
Say what you want about Fillmore but everyone of their agents I have seen at an their open houses in Bed Stuy this last 3 months or so lived in Bed Stuy and owned property. I actually thought they had an office in Bed Stuy ! Nothing against the “Bigger” companies as I have had good experiences with them also but I would much rather have an informed opinion when viewing a house. I have consistently experienced this over the last few months with Fillmore agents.
Again this is just my experience and I felt the need to throw in my 2 cents.
Oh the poor souls of Bed Stuy… there should be some looking in the mirror as well with regards to some of the past troubles.
The systemic racism comment is the best of them all; as if that community is the only community to ever deal with that over the course of time (and I’m talking all races, colors, creeds, etc.). Its a self-centered and closed mind that leads to comments like that.
MM do us all a favor and stick to your historical write ups on buildings, which are very good. Considering you work for Brownstoner it would be wise of you and Jonathan to keep it that way.
Who are you to call me shill?
Take a rest pal. Also sentences start with a capital letter.
Obviously, I agree with you. After I posted my previous comment, I went back to their website. At first I could not use the search function at all because it said there was an error. When I was finally able to pull up the Bed-Stuy listings, I found them to be sorely lacking. As you point out, most do not have floor plans and have really awful photos and little or no description of the property. When there is a description, they are usually full of typos, etc. Fillmore may sell property, but I can only imagine that the properties would sell more quickly or for more money if the properties were marketed better. Honestly, at the end of the day what annoys me the most is that it looks like many of the brokers just don’t care (how else to describe the result of the effort they put in). I would rather point to lack of care than incompetence. At the end of the day, I don’t care if Fillmore is any good or not, I’m just disappointed that a food and/or drink provider is not moving into the space.
