WalkNYC LIC
The Department of Transportation kicked off a new pedestrian wayfinding sign system called WalkNYC on Monday. The first phase of the program will include a total of around 100 interactive maps in Manhattan’s Chinatown and Midtown, Long Island City, Prospect Heights and Crown Heights, starting with four locations in Chinatown. The signs will be installed in Prospect Heights and Crown Heights in August. The system was funded with federal grants and parrtners that included local Business Improvement Districts. The maps will be located on sidewalks, including at Citi Bike stations, and in subway stations. The program was first announced back in January.
