The land review process for Two Trees’ Domino redevelopment is under way, following the city certification of new plans yesterday. The six-month procedure entails five layers of public review and approval, starting with the community board and ending with the mayor’s office.

The new Domino design proposes towers taller than the previous plan did, but with cutouts to allow for views and light. The innovative design has been fairly well received compared to other tower projects on the waterfront, as The Daily News mentioned. That story had a good recap of the project that also contained the tidbit that Council Member Steve Levin negotiated to have the towers reduced slightly in height, from nearly 600 feet tall to 535 feet.

All in all, there will be 2,200 apartments, and 30 percent of them, or 660, will be affordable.
