More than three years after the BSA voted against granting a variance to developer Isaac Katan on 15th Street, the smaller building rising on the land in question—which fronts both 15th and 16th streets—is starting to show itself. The development was originally supposed to be the sister building of the Vue but was only allowed to be built to 5 stories. A resident of the block said that he’s concerned about the influx of cars that he believes will descend upon 16th Street when the project’s garage is complete: Between this and the Vue, he says 16th Street is primed to become a “traffic nightmare.”

  1. Hey Denton,
I just got a call from a neighbor who said that you were looking for me.
    As for your statement:
“I try and drive it as little as possible…I have 15k miles on it. And I have a house upstate….Seems like everyone in this nabe grew up here. I grew up in Manhattan and have lived in BH, PS, and now here. Parking is a bargain here, as is traffic. Y’all should get out more often.”

It seems that it is you who needs to “get out more often”
And not to your “other” house “upstate”.”
It is not I who spends countless hours trolling the net while looking to blame “Bo” for anything that may offend me.
Anyway – Thanks for thinkin of me.
    PS:
Are we to be impressed with your worldly travels?
    Manhattan, BH, PS etc.

    Like I said – NIMBY.
Also – Please don’t make assumptions about my (or any ones) political persuasions given that you are obviously one who professes to be what ever suits the situation.
As for Bo. Thanks! He happens to be a neighbor and a friend who I am proud to be compared to.
I will be sure to let him know that you send your regards.

  3. sowhat, you are dreaming. I actually do have a driveway. It’s a bit narrow, so I never use it. I park in front of my house, just like my neighbors do. I can go to Lowes or whatever, come back and my spot is there, waiting for me.

But I don’t see street parking as an entitlement. Funny how the liberal anti-development types all own cars and expect free parking in front of their houses. And complain when newer arrivals expect the same.

Then again, although I am not perfect, in that I own a car, I try and drive it as little as possible. My car’s three years old, I have 15k miles on it. And I have a house upstate.

“I hope your house gets undermined by one of the slim balls”

Thanks Bo, appreciate the sentiment. I, on the other hand, don’t wish the same on you.

Seems like everyone in this nabe grew up here. I grew up in Manhattan and have lived in BH, PS, and now here. Parking is a bargain here, as is traffic. Y’all should get out more often.

  4. IMBY and all –
That’s right. Some local nut job fired off 9 rounds from a 40 caliber semi-automatic a few months ago.
Of course nothing was done about it and none of the realators will bother to mention it.
Why tell the truth when it is so much more profitable to sell lies?

  5. Those who have a problem with the neighbors complaints about a “Traffic nightmare” are really showing the NIMBY side of themselves.
The fact is that the “provided” parking (for both these 60 and the 45 units @ the VUE)only amounts to a fraction of the new cars that will be moving in. Not to mention the fact that nothing is “Provided” for free.
I would bet that denton and some of the others has a driveway and/or garage. So it’s easy for you to poo poo the destruction of others quality of life.
I hope your house gets undermined by one of the slim balls (or their cousins) who have destroyed the lives of others in the nabe. Then we will see how quickly you change your tune.

  6. This is a Karl Fischer puke fest

For those who were there from the beginning, these fine buildings were built upon those POS foundations they rushed and poured without proper framing.

There are about a dozen new projects within a few blocks.
    Fischer has three more 572 5th Ave, 226 15th St., and 182 15th St.
Also in the works 534 6th Ave, 585 5th Ave, 169 16th St., 20 Jackson Place, 390 14th St, and on and on and on.

  7. “Traffic on 16th? Are you being serious?”

It’s not the traffic, but the fact there are 60 new units, on top of the Vue’s, and the new development has only ONE driveway, only wide enough to allow one car in-and-out.

Even the 16th St. is not prime Slope, the parking is the same. You could circle for an hour and not find a space.

Higher density=more people, more cars and a taxed infrastructure.

    There goes the neighborhood.

The design? Another Bricolage puke fest.

  8. etson, I told you about that drinking.

Actually you’re right. There are maybe a dozen really nice modernist houses in the nabe. But all single family, I can’t think of too many nice larger projects except the group down at the end of 7th and maybe one on 18th near PPW.
