564 st johns place crown heights 122013

This one-story garage at 564 St. Johns Place between Franklin and Classon in Crown Heights will be demolished soon and replaced by a Karl Fischer-designed eight-story apartment building. A demolition application was filed on Monday, but the DOB didn’t approve it because the filing lacked a plan exam. Developer Rabsky Group is behind the development, which will have 172 units spread across 136,373 square feet, as we reported in December. GMAP

  1. It’s a 12min walk or 5min bike ride to the park entrance. That’s (relatively) close.

The building is huge. Combined with the other residential developments within only a few blocks, plus the coming Court Officers Academy (conversion of st. theresa’s complex), the evolution of this slice of CH will be interesting to watch in the coming years.

  2. The COA is definitely behind completion date, which I think was supposed to be 2012. There’s very little movement around there when I pass by. Will be interesting to see what that does to the surrounding area, being that there’ll be lots of police types walking around….less crime? meathead attitudes at the bars and streets?

The Classon is great! I recommend it. Good food, friendly service, big space, good music thats not too loud so you can actually talk. I just hope he starts doing brunch soon, as the kiddies make dinner difficult to do.
