biking-rules-0709.jpgIt’s a little last-minute but not too late to buy a ticket for Transportation Alternatives’ 5th Annual Summer Benefit being held at the Brooklyn Brewery. According to the group’s website, the evening offers a chance to “celebrate a year of remarkable victories for biking, walking, and public transit.” In keeping with the theme, there will be free pedicab service from the Bedford L to the brewery. Once there, you’ll enjoy a feast fit for a locavore. Cocktail hour begins at 6:30 with dinner at 7:30. You can purchase tickets here.

  1. “I’m waiting for their next survey telling us what % of cyclists (sorry Rob) ride without helmets, go wrong way on 1 way streets, ride with earphones, talk on cellphones, no lights at night, etc, etc, etc.
How long will I have to wait for that survey?”

Pete, you’ll be waiting a while, same as you’ll wait for illegal gun usage from the NRA, shelter kills from PETA, and waterboarding from the CIA.

Oh, and btw it’s not against the law to cycle without a helmet in NYC for an adult.

  3. I’ve begun to hate Tranportaion Alternatives.
They have become like all the other organizations that promote their own cause but nothing but defend their own
    (bicyclists).
Just like PBA does for cops, and those for lawyers, MDs, etc, etc. etc.
I would have more respect for them if they spent a few $$$ promoting safe and courteous bike riding amongst their own.
And I can’t believe the way the media takes quotes/stats from them on their own surveys which are as biased and slanted as any other special interest group. And published like they are fair and unbiased research.
