“Nature in Nature,” a temporary public art installation of three sculptures by Robert Lobe, was recently installed around the Boathouse and Lullwater in Prospect Park. From the press release: “Lobe uses a variation of the ancient metalworking technique repoussé, in which metal is hammered around an object to obtain shapes and patterns. He encases trees and boulders in malleable aluminum, and with countless mallet strikes and a pneumatic air compressor, he gathers and tools the metal snuggly around their shapes. This unique process enhances the textures and shadowy contours of the life-sized sculptures, blurring the line between abstraction and realism.” You can also read more about the project over at the Brooklyn Eagle. The opening reception for the work is planned for May 26th at 5pm.

‘A’ for effort. At least.
He owes royalties to nature.
maybe they are intended to scare the geese away.
And there I was, thinking that somebody must be getting ready to do a truck commercial with all those shiny brand new GM trucks with this stuff in them parked at Grand Army Plaza.
I seriously could use some repoussé. 🙂
But seriously, I’m liking this a lot.
