A couple of weeks ago we pointed out a Craigslist ad indicating that Melt Kraft, the grilled cheese and artisanal beer offering from Valley Shepard Creamery, was “about to open” in the former Almondine space at 442 9th Street in Park Slope. “About to open” might have been jumping the gun, since the small spot hasn’t actually opened yet. But, reports Here’s Park Slope, the signage is up along with a note in the window saying “Not yet, but soon.” We’re wondering whether there’ve been any trademark-related problems with the other Park Slope-based eatery that’s named just Melt.

WD-50 is sucessful despite its name, so while I’m not keen on this name, food/service/ambience will decide.
As any scholar of 20th Century food advertising can tell you, the “melt” in “Melt Kraft” is not the problem. You can bet your Velveeta on it.
Melt Kraft is a terrible name. First, as pointed out, there is already a restaurant named Melt in the neighborhood. Second, does the Kraft part of the name imply that they use Kraft cheese products? That hardly says “artisanal” to me.
How about a food truck called Cheesy Rider?
