Well, the big moment is here: On Sunday, the Brooklyn Flea will launch in its second location on Water Street underneath the Brooklyn Bridge. In addition to the mix of vintage, antique, hand-made and food vendors you’ve come to expect, there will also be a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 1 p.m. with a number of public officials. Make sure to check out the booth being curated by Time Out NY to raise money for the nearby Madison Square Boys and Girls Club. Meanwhile, the original Flea in Fort Greene continues to thrive on Saturdays—here’s a look at last weekend’s action. The Brooklyn Flea is held on Saturdays from 10 to 5 at the Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School in Fort Greene (176 Lafayette Avenue between Clermont and Vanderbilt Avenues; take the C train to Clinton-Washington or the G train to Clinton Avenue) and on Sundays from 11-6 in Dumbo underneath the Brooklyn Bridge at the corner of Water and New Dock Street.
Hurry RHLP! Also, strong votes for the Mexican food vendors – need more of those tacos!
Thanks tinarina.
Not to get into yet another tedious border discussion, but it’s generally agreed that the dividing line between Ft Greene and Clinton Hill is Vanderbilt Ave. So Rope is in CH.
randolph, agreed it’s pretty much on the border. DeLepp, who lives very close to it, said it’s Clinton Hill. As long as people find it and have fun, I guess it doesn’t matter what neighbourhood it technically is a part of.
biff, rope is in fort greene. clinton hill starts after clinton.
Yes! A bunch of the regulars plus, starting in two weeks, lobster rolls from the Red Hook Lobster Pound!
so excited about this next flea – will there be food?
Please pardon the interruption, but I wanted to mention that the next gathering of Brownstoner fans will be this Wednesday, June 17 at Rope, Inc. in Clinton Hill. Rope is at 415 Myrtle Avenue (between Vanderbilt Ave & Clinton Ave). We will start around 6pm, but please feel free to drop in whenever you can. We plan on being there for at least a few hours. Here are directions and reviews:
