Chimney-Swift-Nest-Tower.JPG
What is this contraption going up in East River State Park in Williamsburg? It is a chimney swift nest tower courtesy of the Audubon Society, which is installing them in several parks across the city in memory of Geoffrey Cobb Ryan, a founder of New York City Audubon and a board member of both National Audubon and Audubon New York. The chimney swifts will have a cozy place to roost and build nests (plus enjoy a great view of Manhattan). It should be completely finished next week so check it out as you enter the park at North 8th Street.

  1. Hmm, maybe it’s 6:30… in any event, as I biked by on Sunday, I saw the rangers closing the park while it was still light out.

  2. Really? I took this picture around that time. And I still saw kids going in and out of the park. Maybe I just missed the Park people ushering everyone out…
