The McCarren Pool concert series was a popular event for the last few summers. It was thought that the concerts were officially done for good thanks to the venue’s new renovations to be turned back into a real pool. Good news though! The concert series is setting up shop at a new location this summer, East River State Park located on North 8th and 9th Streets and Kent Avenue in Williamsburg. Confirmed by the NY Times, the Park is able to hold 6,000 fans and will boast better views. If enough sponsorship money comes through, the coordinators, Open Space Alliance for North Brooklyn, hope to also put on classical and opera concerts.

  1. bye bye green grass

thats ok though i’d rather have the concerts, they became so popular last summer the sunday partys had a line around the block so long that there was no point in even going anymore

  2. just classical and opera? no black dice, sonic youth, cat power, wilco, etc? I find hipsters as annoying as the next guy, but I went to the mccarren park pool shows anyway ’cause I like the music. Are these new classical/opera offerings geared to appeal to the new arrivals living in Toll Brothers behemoths? And I ain’t necessarily poo pooing opera, but I do fear a creeping homogenization/whiteification/blandification… Or did that train left the station long, long ago…
