Closing Bell: Busted in Bay Ridge
The blog Beehive Hairdresser stumbled across a ticket issued to the owner of a defunct gas station at the corner of 81st Street and 3rd Avenue…and comes away giving Mayor Mike a thumbs up for sticking it to the quality-of-life scofflaw: “$350.00 for being jerks and not clearing the snow off of a long corner…

NYC Snow Summons! [Beehive Hairdresser]
It is because those slumlords are down in Florida soaking up the sun and are too cheap to pay someone to keep their sidewalks clean!
Annoying as it is, my neighbors and I just shovel the walks in front of the ignored or empty houses – and each other’s walks when we are out there. It really isn’t that hard, and it beats whining about the laziness of others.
I wish that several brownstones in my hood would get ticketed. The same offenders never shovel from year to year. I might just start calling 311!!
311
Where do you complain about neighbors not shouveling? We have 1 house on the block and the owner also owns a 6 family building on the corner next to it. he never shouvels, never. It is all cement and he has about 4 cars parked on the cement which in reality would have been the lawn, had it not have been cemented. he also has the curbs painted yellow. I hate this man, I so want to get him busted…
and I am sorry, I just do not know how to spell shouvel….
this is why i am hoping this is my last winter in bklyn…i was born and raised here but sadly brooklyn will never be the same considering the invasion of a-holes and the existing a-holes who don’t care about the community. seriously, it’s not rocket science – why can’t people just shovel their snow and maintain their properties. I will never understand the brooklyn mentality (sigh….) it’s not just snow…it’s dog $hit, garbage, just general gross-ness. i will always have a place in my heart for bklyn and nyc but it’s so time for a better quality of life!
How about under the BQE on Atlantic Avenue? Who is the brain in charge of throwing salt to melt the ice? I think the city figures “Hay you fall you could walk to the near bye hospital in a jiffy.”
🙁
Almost busted my butt in front of this very gas station on Valentine’s day. Luckily my deserts I was carrying from St. Germain remained intact.
Yes BOD this is the gas station that was open just two weeks ago.
