  1. even from fg, i know that bay ridge has a ton of good food. this report is trash (kinda like most of the food at tom’s, except the pancakes).
so many rocking pizza places in besonhurts/bay ridge too.

  2. Yeah, Tom’s on a weekday is great… no line, staff is great. It’s all about the atmosphere. The food is fine to good. Breakfast is better than lunch. It’s what you should expect from a diner – it’s popular because of the atmosphere. Very welcoming.

  3. Aside from the ricotta pancakes, the food at Tom’s blows. Like the others, I’ll never understand why long lines form there each weekend. The decor is cool, though old time diners are not all that hard to find in Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx.

  4. ok I have to represent Bay Ridge here…anyone who knows Bay Ridge knows that we have MUCH more to offer than a gyro cart on 86th Street..really…really? The gyro cart on 86th Street? I am happy that Bay Ridge “made the cut” and was even mentioned in this write up, but seriously it’s NOT slim pickings around here and we have some great places to eat. I love a good street cart but I think this write-up missed the mark entirely, IMHO.

  5. Actually, I’m going to withdraw the prior comment. In its category, Tom’s probably is the best if that atmosphere is important to you.

Second the votes on Taro Sushi (although it’s in Prospect Heights, IMO, not Ft. Greene), and Bagel Hole.

  6. Only if you think General Tso chicken is Chinese food.
