It’s been seven months since news of Galapagos’ move from Williamsburg to Dumbo broke and judging from this photo from just before Christmas it’ll be a few more months before the performance space (the city’s first such “green” space) at 16 Main Street is ready to rock. Should be a nice shot of adrenaline for the otherwise sedate neighborhood.

  1. I know someone involved with this at Two Trees and apparently the Galapagos people showed up with a totally unprofessional design sketch in lieu of buildable plans.

And yes, there’s a stupid moat or something.

  2. look at those great old thick wooden beams. I wonder which forest they came from. Somewhere up the Hudson perhaps? I got to look inside the greenpoint terminal market before it was torched, the wooden columns in there were so thick the trees must have been a couple of hundred years old when they were chopped down. Would have made a great space.
    i’m rambling.

  3. I’m very excited for this, the only somewhat walkable venues we have nearby are Southpaw and Union Hall and those take me about 25 minutes to get to from BK Heights. Will be great to have another option
