Checkers Checking Into 111 Court Street?
New(ish) local blog Flappy Days gets its first big scoop yesterday: The new tenant for the former Busy Chef space at 111 Court Street will be none other than Checkers, if some contractor types on-site are to be believed. Kinda random, but plausible given the type of food that currently finds success on Court Street….

I know for a fact that they are taking that space. They have been pursuing that part of Court Street for a couple of years now, and they finally found themselves a home.
They make a great burger.
I’m not a big fast food girl but we have one here in J.C. and I gotta say it’s pretty darn good. The burgers aint bad, they’re more along the lines of Wendy’s style than say McD’s. The fries are really good.
RaginCajun – is sooo right – tybur6 you really are off here. Checkers is a GREAT fast-food burger (much better then anything you get at 5-Guys or a Johnny Rockets) – it would be odd however without a drive-thru.
One thing is for sure – the Recession/Depression is helping fast-food.
Checkers indeed rocks. Mmm, curly fries.
There is (was?) a Checkers in Jackson Heights. Just a regular walk-in store.
Just for the record… i LOVE popeye’s. Man – I’m glad I don’t have quick access to one near my apartment!
OK, I’m going to be the one to ask – what’s a Checkers?
Ragin Cajun,
As a Louisiana native (Lake Charles), I believe you are forgetting about one institution that will never be in Brooklyn…Whataburger! That alone will keep be going back!
Tybur6,
You obviously have no idea. NONE! 🙂
Checkers rocks. Though I’m not sure how they’re going to install a drive-thru in that space … and they won’t be able to get many of those plastic table/umbrella sets out on the sidewalk.
Between that and the Popeyes across the street, not only do I no longer need to move back to Louisiana, I’m never moving from Court Street.
