NY Post, June 9, 2005 — Give them 30 minutes and they’ll give you the neighborhood. Starting next week, Brooklyn is getting its own 24-hour cable news net work from Cablevision’s News 12 Networks. Similar to NY1, the city’s all-local news channel, the Brooklyn programming will consist of local news on 30-minute loops — plus special shows such as political debates, one-on-ones with lawmakers, town hall meetings and occasional live broadcasts. “Twenty-four hour news coverage of Brooklyn is long overdue,” Borough President Marty Markowitz told The Post.

I am enjoying the Brooklyn channel 12 news, but
there is something quite annoying about hearing
the phase “as local as local can get” every few
minutes during the broadcast. If I heard it once
I must have heard it 20 times in a matter of
20 minutes. Believe me the viewers know it is
local Brooklyn news without having to be reminded
every few minutes.
Now you can watch that bloviating lumox S-marty Markowitz in your home with an even grreater frequency. I get hives just hearing his voice, carping on about some idiotic point that he now champions, conveniently excising the fact that he was opposed to said situations sometime earlier in his important career. That fat fu*K should stick to what he knows best, pressing the flesh of dead animals into his face.
Political expedience always triumphs. Brooklyn is so over. Goodbye character. Hello Atlantic Yads. Goodbye neighborhood locals. Hello soulless 12-story nightmares. When is the bubble going to burst. I want to see the developer SOBs get their due, and watch Marty M blame them for all of the RE Bubble post mortem, despite supporting Ratner and all of the zoning changes. Local pols suck.
The more things change around here, the more some things stay the same. It’s been nice knowing ya Brooklyn.
