Bussaco Closes Its Doors

11217: let’s raise some money and do it!
I like the idea of Vietnamese. What is this upscale BBQ you speak of? How is that different than regular BBQ?
It’s a pretty big space so I imagine the rent is a killer.
Agree with the Vietnamese suggestion. I’d also LOVE to see a high quality, chic Indian restuarant — like Tamarind in Manhattan.
i liked their lamb burgers

this place just wasn’t good enough.
i actually found it semi-depressing because of it’s mediocre-ness. agree w/11217. it’s the actual restaurant, not the recession.
That space is jinxed. This is the second or third restaurant that has failed here.
I agree with 11217. A great, destination-type restaurant needs to take over here. It’s a beautiful space, and it will draw the crowds — even with high prices — if the food and service are impeccable.
I would love to see Lupa or a Vietnamese spot, but would have to see a yupp-ified bbq spot. Than again, there are a lot of folks in the Slope who seem to love simple food done well (this opinion is based on blog reading and my experiences at some of the more crowded PS restaurants) so a bbq place done the “right” way could definitely work.
Mario Batali should open Lupa Brooklyn here. 🙂
Although that would give Al Di La a run for its money.
How about an awesome, slick SIT DOWN Vietnamese place. NOT sandwiches, but REAL Vietnamese.
Or BBQ. Good BBQ.
Either of those 3 things (assuming the right chef/management came in) would do great in the Slope.
