Brooklyn-Trained Chef Bakes for Bush
When we heard all the buzz about the new pastry chef whom Laura Bush recently hired at the White House, we couldn’t help but wonder about all the background checks the guy must have had to endure. (After all, a chef with anti-Bush sentiments might be tempted to taint the apple pie. We’re just sayin’.)…

When we heard all the buzz about the new pastry chef whom Laura Bush recently hired at the White House, we couldn’t help but wonder about all the background checks the guy must have had to endure. (After all, a chef with anti-Bush sentiments might be tempted to taint the apple pie. We’re just sayin’.) Anyway, it seems that 53-year-old Bill Yosses passed the test, and as it turns out, he started his culinary career at Brooklyn’s own City Tech.
He started their program in his thirties, after he got sick of working in the sale department of Air France. He graduated in 1982 and later worked as the pastry chef at Bouley Bakery and Citarella. According to a City Tech Press release, Yosses claims that “the Bushes both love chocolate. Mrs. Bush loves food and loves talking about menus. She has lots of ideas and is always looking for things that are original, healthy and tasty.”

Oh that wonderful Laura Bush. How marvelous she is at even spinning what the essense of a dessert is. Sure does sounds nice and appropriate that during their reign at the Bush’s White (sugar free) House….desert is healthy. I’m sure the lovely Laura would tell us that we, “can all just eat cake if we don’t agree.”
He must make really good Jell-O. And a mean banana pudding with vanilla wafers.
