Did you know there’s a vineyard in Brooklyn’s sky? Well, not exactly, but the Brooklyn Navy Yard’s Rooftop Reds is Brooklyn’s first rooftop vineyard (also one of the first in the world), and this summer the blog Untapped Cities is hosting tours of the sky-high wine spot.

Tours of the 14,800-square-foot rooftop will showcase Rooftop Reds’ original urban planter system, which was developed by Cornell University and leaders of the Finger Lakes wine industry. You can also take in stunning views of the Manhattan skyline and lounge on hammocks, and there’s a 20 percent discount on wine purchases made while on the tour.
Attendees will take part in a wine tasting, and while Rooftop Reds’ own grapes need another year before they will be ready to harvest, the vineyard has wine from the Finger Lakes available.
The hourlong tours begin at 3 p.m. on August 13, August 27, September 10 and September 24.

Tickets cost $30 and are available for purchase at Untapped Cities’ website.
Rooftop Reds is located on 4th Street in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, on top of Building 275. Participants must be at least 21 years old.
