For vegan attendees, there will be a three-course vegan brunch on Saturday from Chef Grace Odogbili, complete with bottomless “African superfood smoothies” and tropical fruit sangria. The festival will also have a hookah bar, a tent with African-inspired prints, skirts and head wraps, and a “Jollof-off,” where cooks will compete to see who can make the best Jollof rice.
The event takes place Saturday, August 13, and Sunday, August 14, at the Brooklyn Navy Yard’s Duggal Greenhouse, the same award-winning venue that hosted the Democratic primary debate earlier this year.
General admission tickets are $20 for either day (add $10 for the regular admission pass, which includes one drink and one meal ticket) or $50 for a weekend pass. There are also a variety of other ticketed meal options, including the vegan brunch, bottle service and VIP passes, all available for purchase on the African Food Festival’s website.
