A full day of films, food and music is happening this Saturday at Sternberg Park in Williamsburg.
UnionDocs, the local nonprofit arts center, is hosting “Collaborative Studio: Preview in the Park,” their flagship event beginning at 4 pm on June 9. Eight short films produced by 11 documentary filmmakers will screen in the park, with a break in between for food and music.
The films that will be screened were made by artists that are part of the UnionDocs Collaborative Studio, a 10-month fellowship program.
As a prompt for their projects, the participants “were challenged to connect to individuals, families, and communities whose pathways to NYC are recent, whose circumstances reflect the contemporary moment, and whose presence broaden and update a picture of life in the city.”
At 10:30 pm, the event will move down the street to UnionDocs headquarters, which is located at 322 Union Avenue. The will be a DJ, some drinks and promised dancing.
The entire event is free. For more information, visit the UnionDocs website.
