What better way to finish off a workout than with a thin slice of pizza, a Schnackie, some cheesecake, and an incredibly rich cup of hot cocoa? It’s looking like Aviator Sports, the massive sports complex set to open November 15 at Floyd Bennett Field, is working to help its patrons replenish all the calories they burn at the new fitness center. “We don’t want this to look like a mall food court,” vice president Tom Hoch told the NY Daily News, adding there won’t be any “cheesy neon signs, either.” He also claims that the food will be afforabale “We are not going to gouge prices like a stadium,” he continued…
Among the available snacks that will be available at Aviator Sports are Jacques Torres’ signature hot chocolate from DUMBO, mini cannolis from Michael’s Pastry Shop in Marine Park, Junior’s cheesecake, ice cream from the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory at Fulton Ferry Landing, hamburgers, fries, and chili from Schnack, rugelach from Margaret Palca Bakes in Red Hook, and pizza from Grimaldi’s. According to the Daily News, “Patsy Grimaldi, original owner of Grimaldi’s, will oversee a selection of pizzas baked on the premises. Though Aviator will use a gas oven instead of a coal-fired one, Grimaldi said the pies will feature the same dough, imported Italian tomatoes, and fresh mozzarella.”
