Cleaning Out Your Closet in 2020? Here's Where to Donate Your Stuff in Brooklyn

The new year brings new beginnings. You want to start fresh, and you’re ready to finally get rid of those things you’ve been holding onto forever. But where to donate?

There are a number of places in Brooklyn that will take stuff off your hands and get it to people who need it. Below is some information to help make donations easy, complete with contact information, what the venues accept and whether they will come to pick up your items. If you don’t have items to give but still want to help, many of the organizations are looking for people to donate time.

Charities That Will Pick Up Your Stuff

Big Reuse, 1 12th Street (new location as of January 2019). Picks up: large volume donations only.

Housing Works, 266 5th Avenue, 424 7th Avenue, 150 Montague Street. Picks up: donations including two or three pieces of furniture.

Out of the Closet Thrift Store, 475 Atlantic Avenue. Picks up: donations including at least two pieces of furniture.

Providence House, 703 Lexington Avenue. Contact via their website to determine what can be picked up and when.

Recycle-A-Bicycle Program for NYC Youth, 35 Pearl Street. Picks up: bicycles.

The Salvation Army, multiple locations. Picks up: electronics, kitchen items, books, clothing, shoes, bags, more. Schedule a pickup online.
