The first batch of authors — more than 150 in total — have been announced for this year’s Brooklyn Book Festival.
Writers who will be present at the annual celebration of literature, running from September 16 to 23, include Edwidge Danticat, Jonathan Safran Foer, Bill McKibben, Joyce Carol Oates, Rebecca Traister, Marlon James, Nell Zink and more.
The festival organizers also announced that this year’s recipient of the Best of Brooklyn (BoBi) Award will be Mo Willems. Past winners include Colson Whitehead and Jonathan Lethem.
All events on September 21 will be dedicated to Children’s Day, now in its fifth year. Special events include a Picture Book Stage, a Young Readers Stage and a special marketplace for children’s publishers.
Additional events include “Whitman in Canoes” on the Gowanus Canal and “Readings, Rum and Reason” at the Caribbean Cultural Theatre in Fort Greene.
More authors and events will be announced soon. For more information, and the full list of announced writers who will be appearing at the festival, click here.
