Thanksgiving is a week from today, so we’re assuming that all the organized folks out there have already ordered or purchased their turkeys or Tofurkeys, as the case may be. (For the disorganized, car-less, and anti-social among us, there’s always Fresh Direct, though we probably don’t need to spark that debate again.) So, where are the best places in Brooklyn to buy your bird? We’ve only heard great things about the deep-fried version from Jive Turkey which you can taste at the Greene Grape today. (If you’re as fascinated by this as we are, you can also catch a video of a live-action deep-frying at Jive on Epicurious.) We’ve also gotten a lot of great poultry from Dines Farm, which sells turkeys on their website, as well as at New York Naturals, the Park Slope Food Coop, Brooklyn’s Natural Food Co., and the Cobble Hill CSA. Any other recommended turkey retailers?

Fairway has heritage turkeys for 5.50 a pound, more or less. You need to order them, but they said they may have some extra on hand..
