Bay Ridge Open Mic Will Have the Last Laugh

The Bay Ridge Poets Society is holding its monthly open mic this Sunday, August 30, at local artisanal wine bar The Owl’s Head. Hosted by native Ridgite and L Magazine Culture Editor Henry Stewart, the event marks the 32nd meeting of the local group of artists.

Writers of all sorts, not exclusively poets, are invited to contribute or just listen. The local group seeks support from the community in helping to expand Bay Ridge’s creative scene.

“The other day I was in WILLIAMSBURG talking to a photographer and I told her I lived in Bay Ridge and she literally laughed at me,” Stewart writes in an earlier invitation to the gathering. “Come through so we can have the last laugh.”

The all-day open mic will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at The Owl’s Head at 479 74th Street.
