tavern
Back when we lived in the West Village for a few months, the urge for a burger would present us with two obvious choices: Brave the frat-boy crowds at Corner Bistro or settle in for a slightly more civilized, though unabashedly casual, experience at Tavern on Jane. More often that not, we opted for the latter. Now that we’re only a few blocks from sister restaurant Tavern on Dean in Prospect Heights, we’re looking forward to the time when a baby sitter unexpectedly shows up our door and Mrs. B and I can pop out for a spontaneous but utterly satisfying cheese burger washed down with a pint of Brooklyn Lager. In fact, we’ve been thinking this would be a good place for the next liquid Brownstoner gathering. What think you?

  1. Turns out the same person commented that brokers weren’t welcome and then posted as an offended broker. All we can ask is that people stop wasting our time with these games. We’ve got enough to do keeping the site fresh with content without babysitting jerks.

  2. i remember for the last party, brownstoner said brokers were welcome… so someone might have misbehaved…

sorry, but real estate would most certainly still exist w/o brokers! I’m tempted to say something mean here but will refrain.

  3. I didn’t think that Dean and Nostrand were owned by the same person. My understanding is that the guy that owns Tavern on Nostrand is the owner of Bagels and High Tea and a couple of other businesses on the corner of Nostrand and Union, but that was it.

  4. I live right across from Tavern on Dean and I LOVE it. The crowd is great, while Dave is a great barman I love Lacrista (sp?) and her Cajun Lemonades (mmmm) and the rest of the staff is just as great. They also have a Tavern on Nostrand for those who live in CH/Bed-Stuy.
