Flickr user BrooklynBiegler provides photographic evidence, above, of a bagel shop, Brooklyn Bagel Works, that’s coming into 80 Dekalb. The last news about a tenant taking space in the building was word that the burger chain Smashbuger was setting up shop in one of the ground-floor spaces. GMAP

  1. BK real estate veteran, you’re out of your element. Forest City wants neighborhood friendly tenants. You think a bagel store is a credit tenant? I think 98% of the value of that building rests in the residential not the retail, but the retail is a good opportunity for FC to show they aren’t ruining Brooklyn neighborhoods.

  2. Hard to find a space big enough that is affordable in that area, why you don’t have the Walgreen where you want it.
Verizon/395 Flatbush Extension space so narrow.

80 Dekalb wants ‘credit’ tenants to enhance the $$$ value of building, which no dry cleaner or small pharmacy can do. A pain.

  3. BrooklynZoo don’t you know these yuppies don’t want to step foot near the Fulton Mall. That Duane Reade and CVS are fine, but crossing Flatbush Ave violates some unspoken rule.

  4. I’m really surprised Duane Reade hasn’t set up a 24 hour location somewhere around here yet. All those new residents in Avalon, this building etc. could surely support such a thing, no?

  5. We already have burger and bagel joints in the neighborhood. What is needed in these storefronts are 1) a dry cleaner that is on the way to/from the Dekalb station 2) a decent pharmacy, again, on your way to/from the Dekalb station that does not close at 7pm and that actually has a selection of multiple brands and is not small storefront with junk piled up in rows and items behind plexglass cases.
