After a six-month renovation (check out the interior photo on the jump), a new 26-seat eatery recently opened at 502 Lorimer Street in Williamsburg. The new cafe-plus-grocery, called BABA after the owner’s grandmother, features locally-sourced, Mediterranean-inspired food like cured meats and fish, artisanal cheese, beer and wine; you can also pick up some Counter Culture coffee. Given that the chef is an alumnus of such spots as Savoy, Franny’s, Marlow & Sons and Diner, it sounds like a fair bet that BABA will be a hit with Brooklyn foodies. According to the Yelp reviews, it’s already been a welcome addition to the neighborhood. GMAP
