Another Look at the Barclays Center

Photojournalist Will Holloway has snapped some views of the Barclays Center that look fresh even to our jaded eyes. Click through to the jump to see many more photos. We asked him a few questions about his work:

Q: Why did you choose Barclays as a subject?
A: I’m always looking for subjects to photograph, and have been particularly interested in how this controversial new arena would look when completed. Whether one likes it or not, whether it fits the context of the neighborhood or not, it is definitely a new center of activity in a previously “empty” space. The light was nice late in the day on Monday, so I grabbed my camera and headed over.
Q: Did you learn anything when photographing it?
A: As with photographing anything, the important thing is to stick around for a while and see what happens as the light changes.
Q: Did you use any special techniques or equipment?
A: Nothing special — I shoot with a Canon 5D Mark II and generally use pretty wide-angle lenses. I’ve started doing more night photography lately, but in this case I didn’t have a tripod to stabilize the camera while shooting with a slow shutter speed. So I used what was available — the sidewalk, bollards, trash cans, etc.
