The shoe retailer Aldo has marked its turf on the Fulton Street Mall spot where it will be opening a storefront. According to an article in the Post, the company signed a 15-year lease for the space. GMAP

  1. …planting the seeds of change. Change can’t come fast enough here. But, don’t fret there will ALWAYS be hairweave, pawn shops, and check cashing places for your convenience in East NY, Bed Stuy, and Brownsville.

  2. I agree with rob. For years I’ve read complaints on Brownstoner about the confluence of so many cell phone, hair product, and sneaker stores at the Fulton Mall. It would be a shame if the mix shifted to what’s on Broadway in Noho/Soho, many versions of each upscale national chain store.

    why? maybe that’s a good thing. there’s nothing inherently wrong with pawn shops and they serve a purpose. as do haircare and hairproducts store. “Planting the seed” of what?

  4. Funny how Commercial Clutch never picked up on this one. Wonder what other national chains are impending for the Fulton Mall. We keep hearing about Sephora, CB2, the Gap, Starbucks.
