Afropunk Fest is returning to Fort Greene, bringing a vibrant weekend of music and art to the borough. This year’s lineup includes acts such as Solange, Gary Clark Jr., Raphael Saadiq, Macy Gray and many others.
Started in 2005, the festival is a celebration of alternative black culture known for its musically and culturally diverse lineups and fashion-forward crowds. This year’s event will take place on August 26 and 27 at Commodore Barry Park with a mix of established acts and up-and-comers as well as food trucks, pop-up restaurants, art and a DIY marketplace. For a full breakdown, visit the Afropunk website here.
While the festival used to be free, it began charging for admission in 2015 and tickets for this year’s event are going quickly. Saturday’s tickets have already sold out. General admission tickets are $55 for Sunday, and $150 for VIP tickets on Sunday. You can purchase them here.
