Being an artist in Brooklyn can be tough, especially when it comes time to find a place to live and support a passion project.

The Downtown Brooklyn Partnership and the Downtown Brooklyn Arts Alliance are putting on a workshop specifically for artists to help them find affordable places to live.

“Ensuring artists have access to affordable housing opportunities in Downtown Brooklyn is vital as our community has directly benefited from a strong cultural sector,” said Regina Myer, president of the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership. “Artists bring vitality, energy and underpin the creative economy and we are proud to partner with the Downtown Brooklyn Arts Alliance and elected officials to identify affordable housing opportunities in Downtown Brooklyn and guide artists through the process.”

The workshop is slated to cover upcoming chances to obtain affordable housing, timelines for applications, and how to prepare for affordable housing opportunities.

The event will take place Tuesday, December 13 at Brooklyn Borough Hall from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m in the Community Room. More panels on the topic will follow in 2017.
