The recent rains were too much for the drainage systems of 4th Avenue, it seems. According to these photos from the Facebook page of the Root Hill Cafe, which is at the corner of Carroll Street, the flooding took out the entire intersection and much of Carroll Street going down towards the canal. This is terrible.
Folks like Root Hill are trying to make a go of it and new development is coming to 4th Ave. The city should fix this long-staning problem.
What idiot would voluntarily drive thru that when they could turn off and go up 5th or 3rd? Just driving thru can flood the engine in smallish car.
