New homeowners have discovered that there is an outstanding violation from New York Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) and are not sure how to resolve the issue. The violation was issued for a rooftop railing installed by a previous owner. HPD has suggested the owners write a letter of explanation, but they are concerned that this might not resolve the issue. What kind of process might they face to in trying to clear this violation?

Please chime in with your advice.
