Fiona Dogan, licensed real estate agent at Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s International Realty in Rye, believes that COVID has made buyers sharp in their focus.

“People are leaving the city at an earlier stage of family rearing than they have in the past,” she said during the free webinar “Making the Move to Sound Shore in Westchester” on Thursday, October 8. You can view it for free right here.

Dogan qualifies this by saying “this fall has seen a bit of a holding pattern — many people bought and many rented in the suburbs when the pandemic hit, but nobody was sure where the future is headed. People who did not make their move will do it, and by the spring many more will be buying — or renting — in the suburbs.”

Also on hand was Chase Senior Home Lending Advisor Michael DeRosa, who talked about the various financial products available for buyers.

“Buyers need to be prequalified or pre-approved if you’re making the move in the next four months,” he said. “But if you’re thinking of making a move in the next year — at least know your credit score now. You’d be surprised at how many flags come up without you knowing it.”
