Buying a home can be a frustrating mystery to solve. Why is your offer rejected over someone else’s? Can you ever afford to buy in a neighborhood you like? What is the difference between a co-op and a condo? We can help you solve the puzzle at the What First Time Buyers Need to Know event, part of a series of Brownstoner Home Events.

At the April 30 event at the Brooklyn Historical Society, curious buyers will hear directly from experts about what neighborhoods offer the best value for first-time buyers, financing options and even how to spruce up your new home on a budget.

Should you lock in your interest rate? What about applying for a home equity line of credit? Brian Scott Cohen, Sales Manager at Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, will clarify the world of mortgages.

Brian Giambalvo, the Senior Managing Director of real estate firm Citi Habitats, will help you better understand the borough’s housing stock, its neighborhoods and how to navigate the competitive market.

Few apartments are ready to move into on day one. Kristen Chuber, Senior Director of Marketing at Paintzen, will discuss the ins and outs of freshening up your new home’s look.

The event will take place at 128 Pierrepont Street in Brooklyn Heights on Tuesday, April 30 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Tickets are $10.

The event is sponsored by Citi Habitats, Paintzen, Gotham Brokerage and Wells Fargo. For more information on this and other Brownstoner Home events, click here.
