After years of sitting exposed to the elements, this partially constructed house at 408 Franklin Avenue in Bed Stuy has sprouted another story and some plywood sheathing, according to a tipster. It is a Fedders-style house that was abandoned mid-construction two years ago, he said.
New building permits reissued in June call for a three-story, two-unit house with 3,038 square feet. The 1,444-square-foot lot at the corner of Franklin and Monroe was previously an empty lot. It last changed hands in 2006 for $115,000.
I know this site, they framed the second floor with joists that had been sitting in a pile outside for two years. The mold and rot down the center of them is visible from the street.
I agree it’s a ridiculously poorly maintained site. How do we know it’s Fedders style, though?
