8blueapron.jpgAs far as we know, the Blue Apron Foods on Union Street (pictured at right) is still going strong — providing Park Slope with a Dean & Deluca-like selection of gourmet goods, like Sullivan Street Bakery bread, Neal’s Yard Dairy cheese, and Jacques Torres chocolate. But one South Slope business owner noticed that Blue Apron’s 7th Avenue location, between, 14th and 15th Streets, was closed on Saturday — and appeared to be closed for good. “Us South Slope businesses don’t want to see a sister fall!” Amy from Greenjeans wrote in. Anybody know what’s up?

  1. Grab is not closing. The orginal post is from a year ago, when the South Slope Blue Apron closed, later to reopen as Grab. (Grab will face competition from Union Market, and doesn’t need false rumors.)

  2. Kathyrn is correct. The new store will be called Grab and will be run by the very nice post-Blue-Apron employee Laura.

Apparently, the owners of Blue Apron wanted to focus more attention on the North Slope location due to other competition. Our guess is that Union Market has been eating away at their customer base.

  3. We stopped by on Friday. There is a sign up that says it closed as of the first of the year and will reopen in a couple weeks with a new name, “Grab” which will be run by a former Blue Apron employee. I hope it’s like Blue Apron!
