Four Renovated Townhouses for Under $1 Million to See This Weekend

Our picks for open houses worth visiting this weekend are in four Brooklyn neighborhoods — Bedford Stuyvesant, Flatbush, East Flatbush and Flatlands.

Our open house picks this week share two distinguishing characteristics: They’re all renovated, and they all fall under the $1 million mark. Two of the houses fall well under it — we’ve got one in Flatlands listed for $379,000. The others are in Flatbush, East Flatbush and Bed Stuy. Note that due to Easter, Sunday is not the open-house fest it usually is — three of these are showing on Saturday.

On East 26th Street in Flatbush we’ve got a three-story with three units, all newly renovated, which is being pitched as an “excellent investment opportunity.” The units range from two to four bedrooms; the bottom one is duplexed with the finished basement via a circular staircase. The listing claims “an abundant amount of the original detail remains throughout,” though not much screams out from the photos.

In Bed Stuy, at 21 Dewey Place, is a two-family brick townhouse that’s been gut renovated. There’s no floor plan, but the listing says there are two units — a three-bedroom and a two-bedroom — and a finished “hospitality basement space” with its own kitchen. This one came on the market last December at $1.2 million, and now the price has dropped.

Heading now to East Flatbush near the Canarsie border, we’re looking at a one-family on East 93rd Street, with four bedrooms and two baths spread over two floors. The living room (which sports a fireplace mantel) and newly renovated main kitchen are on the second floor; the lower floor has a second “summer” kitchen with a door leading to the backyard. There’s a driveway that fits two cars, which is useful because the subway is not close at hand.

The last one, a semi-detached house at 1408 East 56th Street in Flatlands, is two stories and quite small — a total of 812 square feet, with two bedrooms and one bath. Pictures reveal little, but the kitchen and bath are reported to be new, same with the boiler and hot-water heater. There’s a finished basement, as well as a driveway and a garage.
