Despite the fact that there was a Stop Work Order posted in the window when we stopped by last weekend, Time Out NY is reporting that Dutch Boy Burgers, the new venture at 766 Franklin Avenue from the folks that brought you Franklin Park (which connects to Dutch Boy at the rear) and Southpaw, is set to open this week. TONY highlights a couple of menu items including a burger topped with cheddar, mushrooms and caramelized onions and milk shakes made with Blue Marble ice cream. Local blog I Love Franklin Avenue had this to say about the opening: “It sounds fantastic, particularly the part about the bar serving the full menu into the wee hours. I suppose this does mean the end of take-out at Franklin Park, but it’s a small price to pay for a good new burger place.” On the jump, check out a photo of the interior. GMAP

  1. Interesting. I wonder how long it will be before the Dutch Boy (paint) lawyers contact the Dutch Boy (burgers) people about trademark infringement.

  2. i went to franklin park last saturday, for the first time. the place is great, awesome beers on tap, and the take out food people brought in made me jealous! i did peak into this new burger joint and indeed the back door connects to franklin park- right where the skeeball is!

  3. “I guess it’s OK as long as it’s not an Obama Burger.”

Why?! That would be great. It would be free for you and charged to all your better off neighbors who’d be told its for their own good.

  4. Mmmmmm…enticing. Root beer floats must mean shakes. Nice break from ‘lunatic fringe’ mode.

  5. DIBS, that is the old Dutch Boy Paint store that was on Franklin. Surprisingly, some folks around the hood loved the original sign and were sad to see it go. These same folks were happy to find the new owners wanted to keep the Dutch Boy name and some version of the original sign.
