Politicians and residents are pissed about the lack of momentum on Bushwick Inlet Park on the Williamsburg and Greenpoint waterfront, according to an article in The Daily News. The ambitious 28-acre park—which was promised in exchange for the area’s rezoning six years ago that paved the way for residential development all over the neighborhoods—is far from being fully realized, and the city has dropped plans to acquire one of the properties on the site necessary for its construction. Politicians including Assemblyman Joe Lentol, Councilman Steve Levin and State Sen. Daniel Squadron sent Mayor Bloomberg a letter yesterday saying the city had made an “ironclad commitment” to the open space and the community is “going to be bursting from its seams with all the housing that’s built.” At present, all that’s been built is a soccer field.
