NYC Housing Connect is now accepting affordable housing applications for the new building finishing up at 490 Myrtle Avenue in Clinton Hill. As you may recall, this is where the Associated Supermarket used to be, between Hall and Emerson.

Affordable units make up 20 percent of the seven-story, 93-unit building. The 19 affordable units start at $816 a month for a studio.

There are five studios. The seven one-bedrooms are asking $877 per month; the seven two-bedrooms are $1064 per month. The building’s amenities include a fitness center, reflecting pools with cabanas, a barbeque and dining area and more, all of which qualified applicants will have access to.

Income requirements range from $29,932 for single applicants to $51,780 for families of four.

The Associated supermarket is returning, according to plans announced in 2013, but will now be called Key Food, we read on the Myrtle Avenue blog, which first announced the affordable rentals launch.

When we stopped by this morning, the supermarket appeared to be in the early stages of buildout. Lights had gone in as well as a few freezer units, but not shelving or external doors. The TD bank planned for the smaller of the two retail spaces has also started its buildout, as we reported yesterday.

Applications for the affordable units are being accepted online or through the mail. Visit NYC Housing Connect’s site to apply online, or send a self-addressed envelope to 490 Myrtle Avenue c/o Common Ground, P.O. Box 36209337, N.Y., N.Y. 10129. Applications will be accepted until June 11, 2015. Applicants will be selected for review through a lottery process.
