Two Protest Soon-to-Open Starbucks on Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights
It looks like not everyone is thrilled with the impending Starbucks on Franklin Avenue and Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights. Brooklynian posted this photo of a couple holding a sign that reads “Crown Heights Does Not Need a Starbucks!” in front of 341 Eastern Parkway.

The irony….but just don’t buy from them. Hopefully they will go away.
Many years from now (1.5), in a small town in Ohio, these people can tell their kids, I made a difference..
Is the girl on the right really holding a cup from Connecticut Muffin??? Finding it hard to sympathize with their cause…
Pretty sure it’s Pulp & Bean, which is right next door.
Look at these gentrifiers protesting gentrification, lol
I’m blase to the protest, but I still don’t get how the neighborhood got another coffee shop, and on top of that, that shop was a Starbucks. Empty storefronts and cookie-cutter chains do not make a healthy neighborhood.
What, no Instagram filter?
I agree it does seem like a spoof. Am having trouble reading bottom of sign — but does it say ‘Got sex’?
That said I still don’t comprehend why people like Starbucks or why they hang out there on their computers.
if you looked at the thread on brooklynian, you would have seen that whynot said that this starbucks is transferring in employees from other locations. so, this starbucks may not be employing “our neighbors”.
