Doesn’t mean anything. Stores come and go on Atlantic for a variety of reasons.
There are over a dozen stores in this particular stretch of Atlantic Ave, some where this is there 2nd or 3rd location, and some that have been there for much longer than 5+ years, and some over 10 years. I live on this stretch of Atlantic Ave and landlords here aren’t anymore greedy than anywhere else. Those “perfume” stores are Atelier Cologne, their first Brooklyn store, and the other is niche fragrance and apothecary Twisted Lily which sells about 30+ brands from all over the world. I’ve been in both and they are kinda awesome and I hope both stay. And there are definitely shoppers in this area. I think your prediction of a “downturn” is random and it sounds like you’ve never even explored these stores and maybe had a bad experience with a landlord in the area?? I think Adler’s lease was up and that was that. It happens in all shopping areas, stores come and go all of the time.
