Girls star Zosia Mamet and her boyfriend bought a townhouse in Bushwick for $1,037,500, The Daily Mail reported. As far as we know, she’s the first celebrity to buy in the neighborhood. The paper did not reveal the address, and we won’t either, although it’s easy enough to look up.
Suffice to say it’s on an extremely busy commercial street with lots of bars in the center of the action in the most gentrified part of Bushwick. The house, pictured above, is also close enough to the forthcoming giant development at the old Rheingold Brewery site to worry about noise and construction dust.
Seems like a strange choice to us, unless they’re planning to open an art gallery or restaurant. Interior photos show a fairly recent, utterly banal renovation with not a shred of original detail left. We’re shocked by the price: Similar renovated houses in the area typically sell for about $600,000. However, even though it’s a three-story house, it’s classified as a five- to six-family, which cost more.
One nice thing about it is that it’s 22 feet wide. The Daily Mail said they’re gut renovating it, although no permits have been filed. We’re sure it will look very nice when they’re done. Can’t wait to see what they do with the exterior.
