In the next few months before the end of winter, the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corp. will issue a new request for proposals to build the long-promised supermarket at the corner of Navy Street and Flushing Avenue where Admiral’s Row stands. The new RFP will require applicants to have a “binding partnership with a supermarket prior to applying,” a Navy Yard exec told Community Board Two Wednesday, DNAinfo reported.

The first developer was dropped because one of its founders was accused of bribery on another project. The second developer left the project in December because it had no supermarket picked out for the store.

Two of the badly deteriorated historic naval structures on the site will be preserved, while the others will be torn down to make way for the supermarket and a retail center. Above, the construction fence bordering the site.
