Facade Restoration, New Venue Planned for Casablanca Lounge in East Stuy

The artist-owner of Noho’s Von bar and the artist-designer who built Bed-Vyne Brew have teamed up to open a new venue at the old Casablanca Cocktail Lounge on the corner of Malcolm X and MacDonough Street. When we stopped by 300 Malcolm X Boulevard recently, the sign was down, the door was open and the building owner was fixing up the space. He said he plans to restore the facade.

A neighbor said he heard the duo plan to open a new bar under the Casablanca name, but when we contacted Von’s Charles von Herrlich, he said it was too early to discuss plans for the space. Things have been busy on this block lately, also home to Liquid Oz cafe, real estate developer Brookland, Simplicity Wine Bar, and Thompson Interior Design. GMAP
