If you are interested in giving to the victims of this week’s hurricane, the Brooklyn Community Foundation, Brooklyn Borough President’s Office, and the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce started working with local business and government to establish a donation fund. They set up a website today for any contributions. According to BCF, “The fund will provide direct support for needs identified by local Brooklyn nonprofit service providers, the small business community and borough civic institutions.” One hundred percent of every donation will be used to support storm recovery efforts in Brooklyn. Corcoran also set up donation centers at their brokerages around Brooklyn. They are accepting supplies for the Breezy Point/Rockaway relief at the Park Slope office (125 7th Ave at Carroll), Brooklyn Heights (124 Montague Street at Henry), Williamsburg (241 Bedford Ave at North 4th), and Fort Greene (65 Lafayette Ave at Fulton). They are in need of clothes, food and supplies for infants and children; clothing, including shoes and jackets, for adults; and non-perishable food items. Also, here are the donation drop off and distribution locations in Rockaway and Far Rockaway, organized by the Sandy Disaster Relief.
